Agnes Loretta Coffey Mays,
age 83, of Oneida, Tenn., died October 7, at the Scott County Hospital. Born in Scott County, Tenn., November 9, 1911, she was the daughter of the late John and Henrietta Blevins Coffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded also in death by her husband, Willie C. "Bill" Mays; three sisters, Jenny Newport, Dutch Litton and Bess Goodin; six brothers: Bud, Woodrow, Fred, John, Luther, and Bob Coffey; a granddaughter, Donna Sue Stanley and son-in-law, James Joseph "Joe" Brooks. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oneida, and along with her daughter, Sue Brooks, owned and operated Duncan's Cloth & Kid's Shop in Oneida. She is survived by her son, Kenny Mays and wife, Pat, of Oneida; two daughters, Sue Brooks of Oneida, and Dorothy Stanley and husband, Dr. Tom Stanley of Pine Knot, Ky.; two granddaughters, Kenia Mays Bowling and husband Mark, and Henrietta Brooks, all of Oneida; four grandsons: Tobey Mays and wife, Janet; Patrick Mays and wife, Vickie, and Jody Brooks, all of Oneida, and Steven Stanley of Lexington, Ky.; two great-granddaughters, Colbey Renie Bowling and Maci Jade Mays, both of Oneida, Step-great-grandson, Jen Watters; two sisters, Christine Davis of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ina Morris of Oneida; two sisters-in-law, Della Strunk and Elva Bilbrey; brother-in-law, Milford Acres, special cousin, Gene Goodin, special friend and neighbor, Ervin Jeffers, and special friend, Juanita Ball, as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted October 10,1995, in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Philip Kazee officiating. Special music was provide by Philip Kazee. Interment followed in the Hazel Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tobey and Patrick Mays, Jody Brooks, Steven Stanley, Mick Coffey and Mark Bowling. Jones & Son Funeral Home of Oneida was in charge of arrangements.
