Wenatchee World – April 5, 1955

Chelan – William T. Shipton, 78, died last night in Chelan. Born in Braidwood, Ill., May 24, 1876, he moved with his family to Cozad, Nebr. In 1886 and was married Feb. 15, 1900 to Myrtle Dean. They moved to Chelan in June 1941. Mr. Shipton operated a store in Chelan until 1951 and had a small apple orchard.

He was a member of the Chelan school board from 1920-1932, charter member and past master of the Chelan Rotary Club, member and past master of Chelan Valley Lodge No. 118. F. and A. M. and a member of Silver Star Chapter, O.E.S.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle of Chelan; three daughters, Vivian Hazen of Renton, Pauline Mims of Lewiston, Ida.; and Doris Hagen of Pateros; one son, Donald of Spokane; two sisters, Kathryn Ward of Chelan and Clara Foote of Bonner's Ferry, Ida; 8 grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

Smith Funeral Home is in charge.
