JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP - Howard Paul Lasher, age 55, of Griggs Road, Jefferson Township, Ohio, died early Friday morning, May 19, 2006, at his residence. Born on March 15, 1951, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, he was a son of Albert P. and Virginia P. (Camp) Lasher, and he moved here in 1971, coming from Apollo, Pennsylvania. A Veteran in the U.S. Army, he served during the Vietnam War. He was very active in the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, and he felt that church was his life. Mr. Lasher enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, reading, and movies, especially old westerns. Survivors include his wife, Brenda L., whom he married on April 12, 1977; his mother, Virginia P. Johns of Jefferson; six children, Andrea J. Lasher and Amy J. Johnson, both of Greenville, Pennsylvania, H. Curtis (Rebecca) Lasher of Youngstown, Matthew S. (Celina) Lasher of Crystal River, Florida, Jeremy T. Lasher of Jefferson, and Brian C. Lasher of Rogers, Arkansas; two brothers, Gary A. of Leechburg, Pennsylvania, and Jeffrey L. Lasher of Ashtabula; and five grandchildren, Andrew, Kyle, Gage, Brenden, and Noah. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert P. Lasher in 1980; a stepfather, Henry Johns in 2006; and a grandson, Kody Keith Johnson. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene, with the Reverend Kevin Angel officiating. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2006, at the Jefferson Home of the FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 49 West Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio. Howard married his beloved and surviving wife Brenda Lou Hines, at the Jefferson, Church of the Nazarene in Ashtabula Co., Ohio April 2, 1977. She is the mother of his four sons; Curtis, Matthew, Jeremy and Brian, devoted friend and confidant to his daughters; Andrea and Amy, oldest son's Paul and Keith. Brenda is also the rock of countless others and as Howard once said "She is the roots that keep me steady in the storm".
