Husband of Margaret (Cochrane) Hardy (1871-1956). They had 9 children, including prominent Webb Citian Helen Elizabeth (Hardy) Myers (1901-1997). George and Margaret built their family home at the SW corner of 3rd & Ball Streets in Webb City and reared their children there; it still stands.

George was the son of Joseph Allen Hardy Sr., b. near Hannibal, in Ralls County, Mo., & Emily Agnes (Edstrom) Hardy, b. in Boston, Suffolk County, Mass. Both parents also lived many years in and died in Webb City, Mo.

George was a prominent lead and zinc mine owner and operator, as was his father and grandfather.
