Joe M. Baggett Sr., 83, of Jackson, passed away May 28, 2022 at his home. He was born March 24, 1939, to Lonnie and Nellie Turberville Baggett. Mr. Baggett's career was working in the paper industry, he was the woodyard foreman and later retired from Boise Paper Co. Joe was a Deacon at Forest Avenue Baptist Church and was involved in the Kingdom Builders. He loved his family dearly, he cherished fishing with his grandchildren, spending some relaxing time at the beach with his family, and trips to the Smokey Mountains.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers James Baggett, Jessie Baggett, Edward O'Neal Baggett, Leroy Baggett, William Cunningham Baggett, Archie Baggett, Lindsay Baggett, sisters Anna Turberville, Edna Owens, and Willie Stacey.
Survived by his wife of over 62 years Kayrean McCorkel Baggett, daughter Ettie (Tom) Cantor, son Joe M Baggett Jr., grandchildren Jessica (Juan) Rico, Julianna (Matt) Giordano, Marrissa Cantor, Samantha Cantor, great grandchildren Kaiden Rico, Adriana Rico, Lily Giordano, brother Barney (Jean) Baggett. Also, many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and loving friends.
Pallbearers will be Donald Baggett, Elbert Tuberville, Andy Booker, Ronald Baggett, Alex Baggett, and Rod Taylor.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Jackson, visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with Bro. John Boss and Bro. Wayne McMillian officiating and Lathan Funeral Home directing. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
