Douglas Earl Williams, 65, of Deacon Drive, Marion, died Monday, March 2, 1992 in Morganton's Grace Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Rock Hill, S.C., he was a son of Sarah Mae Proctor Williams of Marion and the late Thomas Roy Williams. He was a retired highway maintenance worker with the N.C. Department of Transportation.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Marie Poteat Williams; two sons, Thomas Earl Williams and Russell Douglas Williams of Marion; two daughters, Christine Koone and Jayne Bradley of Marion; a brother, Mike Williams of Marion; two sisters Joyce Ann Smith of Black Mountain and Helen "Jean" Bishop of Gainesville, Ga.; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
