Sarah Mae Proctor Williams, 91, of Marion, died Monday, January 31, 1994, in a local hospital after a period of declining health.

A native of McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Jasper P. and Bessie White Proctor. She was a retired employee of Rose's department store and a member of the Marion Seventh Day Adventist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Roy Williams, two sons, Rudolph Williams and Douglas Williams and a daughter, Marjorie McGhee Elliott.

She is survived by one son, Michael Williams of Marion; two daughters, Helen Jean McGee Bishop of Gainesville, Ga. and Joyce Ann Smith of Black Mountain; one brother, Carl E. Proctor of Marion; four sisters, Ethel Rhymer, Myrtle Finley and Helen Deal, all of Marion and Laura Finley of Durham; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 1994 at Kirksey Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Hakes and Elder David Miller officiated. Burial followed in Walker Cemetery.
