He married Alberta Brown Oct 21, 1922, not quite four months before he died. According to family tradition he was washing dishes at his job, collapsed and died.
In a letter from cousin Edith Parker (also buried in Clearwater) dated 1/10/1992, Edith wrote about Alec and his brothers Fred and Will: "My grandfather & father practically raised Will. You see the Leggett boys mother was left with 3 boys to raise, Will, Fred & Alex. My Dad's brother Alexander took Fred -- my grandpa & dad took Will. Alec mind was a little small but he worked until he died at a sorta young age. You know the funeral homes used to use horses to pull the hearse. Alec made his home in the funeral home taking care of the horses & keeping the hearses in order. They used to tell that he was very dependable."
Excerpts of an obit presumably from the Wichita paper, not dated:
Aleck Leggett was born in Linn age 39 years, 4 months, 27 days. At the age of two years he suffered the loss of his father and in the year 1885 he and his mother came to Kansas. He was united in marriage to Alberta Brown October 21, 1922 and has since made his home at Wichita.
