Clarence Backus
Clarence Andrew Backus, 73, of Indianapolis, died June 19, 2005, at his home.
He was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Indianapolis, the son of Ben and Carrie L. Backus. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and retired from Dickey & Son Tool and Die. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 694 in Beech Grove.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley D. Backus; two sons, Ronnie Lee and Stephen Dale Backus, both of Indianapolis; two brothers, Bennie Backus of Canaan and Raymond Backus of Indianapolis; one sister, Loretta Backus Stephens of Indianapolis; seven grand children; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Walter Elvin, Harold and Dennis Backus.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. The burial will take place at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Community Health Hospice Network.
