"Behold the handmaiden of the Lord!" Ellouise Ethel Christensen Christiansen passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997.

Born April 1, 1902 in Moroni, Utah, to James and Erasmena Maria Jensen Christensen. Married Henry Oscar Christiansen, March 2, 1923 in the Manti LDS Temple. Ellouise's goal in life was to become a "MOTHER" in the full sense of the word. She succeeded beyond the greatest of her expectations. She bestowed hugs, kisses, cookies, zucchini, crocheted doilies, mittens and booties unconditionally to family, friends and passers by. Mother gloried in every baby she ever saw; every sunrise; every blue morning glory or golden daffodil. She loved making peanut butter fudge, raisin-filled cookies and glowing jars of fruit form well tended tree and garden. Often going without herself, she had plenty to share. She made a picnic into an adventure. She always had a kind word and an open heart. She never knowingly hurt another soul.

Ellouise was an active member of the Poplar Grove Ward for over 50 years; helping out wherever she saw a need. A member of DUP, her ancestors traveled to Utah with the Handcart Pioneers. A visiting teacher for many years, she quietly saw a need and filled it with true generosity in deed and spirit. She will be sorely missed, but long remembered by those privileged to share part of her joyous ways.

She will be missed greatly by her children, Louise McGee, Kearns; Edna Jackman, Orem; Virginia Garrett, Murray; Wallace Reed, Hunter; Lee Roy, West Valley City; Franklin Delano, Malad, Idaho; Mary Lou Dawson, Murray; Shirley Sharp, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; William Russell, Taylorsville; Tex Howard, Taylorsville. Ellouise is survived by 54 grandchildren, 162 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Oscar on April 2, 1968 and an infant son, Frank, in May 1935. Five brothers and five sisters also preceded her in death. Survived by brother, Forrest Christensen, Washington County, Utah; sister-in-law Ila Christensen, of Moroni.

God in his infinite mercy has laid a gentle soul to rest.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 12 noon, at the Riverview Ward, 5980 South 1300 West. Family and Friends may gather for a Viewing Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Wednesday at church 11-11:45 a.m.
Interment at the Valley View Memorial Park.
