Edna Christiansen Jackman
1925-2007
Edna C. Jackman, mother, grandmother and a great friend to all, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Easter evening, April 8th, 2007. Edna was born August 1st, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Henry Oscar, and Elloise Christiansen. Edna married the love of her life, Carl E Jackman on September 6th, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Edna was actively involved in the LDS church and served faithfully in many callings throughout her life. Most notably was her calling as a missionary with her companion Carl in the Chicago and Atlanta temples. Her love for the gospel sustained her throughout her time with us. Edna was actively involved in many groups including; the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Sandy Fire Department Auxiliary, and even earned her Boy Scout Wood-Badge along with her husband. Her love for genealogy consumed many hours of her life, and space in her home. She was eager to help many families with their history, compiling pictures, stories and pedigree charts, placing them in book form for all to enjoy. No one ever went hungry with Edna around. She spent hours canning jams, jellies and especially her famous "Chili Sauce". Her favorite activities included doll collecting, flower arranging, and countless hours making quilts and blankets for all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everyone got a blanket from Edna.
To say our mother and friend was a unique individual would make all of us crack a smile. Edna had a very special way about her. She cared for everyone and was always concerned for our well being: nagging about coats and shoes in cold weather, eating enough food, staying modestly dressed, and in general, telling us to do whatever she thought was right.
Edna was preceded in death by her sweetheart Carl, two sisters, a brother, and two great grandchildren. She is survived by five siblings, her children Karen (Alan) Ashton, Toronto West Canada Mission, Cora Lee Rockwood, Orem, Ken (JoAnne), West Jordan, Brent (Edith), American Fork, Joyce (Paul) Scofield, Orem, 47 grandchildren, and 48 great grandchildren.
