Rheba Alice Modlin, 82, passed away Dec. 9, 2007, of pulmonary failure with her family at her side. She was born in Norfolk; however, at the time of her death she had resided at the Kings Grant Assisted Living House in Virginia Beach for three years. Prior to that, she resided for 50 years on Floral Street in the Aragona section of Virginia Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Leroy Modlin Sr. Mrs. Modlin is survived by her children, Leroy Modlin Jr., Jeanne Gaunce Tonnesen, both of Virginia Beach and Carl David Modlin Sr., and his wife Tina of North Carolina; and seven grandchildren, Matthew Lee Modlin, Kelly Jo Modlin, Ruth Marie Modlin Dempsey, Carl David Modlin Jr., Lucy Jean Gaunce, Jacob Samuel Modlin and Emily Grace Modlin. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Ava Bella, Alyssa and Liam. She is also survived by a brother, Wade Pearce Sr., and his wife Thelma; and two sisters, Elsie Humphrey and her husband Fred and Thelma Davis and her husband Bill. Rheba, who was a devoted Baptist Christian, will be best remembered by her family and those who met her by her unknowing ability to make you laugh with her silly sense of humor and zany antics. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home.
