MILDRED DELIAH ROGERS, 80, of 934 Grandview Road, Oil City, died at 9:19 a.m. Thursday June 20, 1985, in the Franklin Regional Medical Center. She had made her home for the past three years with her son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Mary Lou Rogers. Born January 27, 1905, in Nickleville, she was a daughter of the late John Charles Fremont Boyer and Maria Katherine Exley Boyer. She was the widow of James Ralph Rogers, who died March 7, 1967. They were married November 25, 1925, in Oil City. Mrs. Rogers graduated from Clarion Normal School (now Clarion University) and taught for a number of years in schools at Eagle Rock and Walnut Bend. She was a member of the Hasson Heights Presbyterian Church where she had been financial secretary and taught Sunday school for over 39 years. She also was a member of the Women's Association of the church and the Ladies Aid where she quilted. In 1981 she was honored by the church congregation during a special recognition and appreciation dinner in her honor and was presented with a certificate from the church Session. Surviving are one son, James A. Rogers of Oil City; a granddaughter, Esther Abahazy of Missoula, MT; one brother, Merle Boyer of Walnut Bend; and three sisters, Margie Weeter of Knox, Carrie Friggle of Broken Arrow, OK and Dorothy Bell of Clarion. A brother, Charles, died at birth. Also deceased are three brothers, Clem, Roy and Clyde Boyer, and five sisters, Nellie Hinkle, Gladys Neubauer, Zina Shreffler, Nora Boyer and Blanche Boyer. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Morrison Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends until 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and until 1:30 p.m. Sunday when the body will be removed to the Hasson Heights Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be conducted at the church at 3 p.m. with Daly Dickey, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Rynd Farm Cemetery. The family suggests flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Hasson Heights United Church or the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County.
