JOHN CHARLES FREMONT BOYER, aged 65, died at his home in Richland Township, Venango County, on Tuesday June 21, 1927. The cause of death was pernicious anemia. He was born on March 12, 1862 in Ashland Township, Clarion County, where he resided and engaged in farming for the major portion of his life. He was a son of the late Neri and Mary Mitchell Boyer. His paternal grandparents, John Reinhart and Anna Maria Shambach Boyer, came to this area from Union County in the 1840s. Mr. Boyer was first married to Mariah Katherine Exley who died on November 5, 1908, at the age of 44. Together they had 14 children. Deceased are four sons, Charles Boyer (Born 1881-Died 1881), Roy Franklin Boyer (Born 30 April 1885-Died 29 September 1903), Clemence Oliver Boyer (Born 14 December 1891-Died 20 July 1924) and John Clyde Fremont Boyer (Born 03 April 1899-Died 09 May 1916) and one daughter, Norah Belle Boyer (Born 1886-Died 11 November 1892). Surviving are eight daughters Nellie G. (Mrs. Walter) Hinkle of TX, Carrie Mable (Mrs. James Marshall) Friggle of Broken Arrow, OK, Grace Elzina (Mrs. Samuel Augustus) Shreffler of Van, Margery Rebecca (Mrs. Edwin Thomas) Weeter of Wentlings Corners, Mildred Delia (Mrs. James Ralph Rogers) of Oil City, Dorothy Jennie (Mrs. Raymond Theodore) Bell of Shippenville, Blanche Mary Boyer and Gladys Mere Boyer, both at home; and one son, Merle Levi (Bill) Boyer of Knox. Several brothers, sisters and stepchildren also survive. Mr. Boyer's widow is his second wife, Mrs. Edith Esther Brown Showers Boyer, to whom he was married on April 4, 1915, at Nickleville. Mrs. Boyer was first married to George Washington Showers, who died on September 20, 1914. Funeral services for Mr. Boyer were held Sunday morning at the Valley Evangelical Church of which he had been a lifelong member. The pastor, Robert Bowman, was in charge. Interment was made in Valley Cemetery, near Nickleville, where his parents are also buried.
