She was the daughter of William Thomas and Arminta Ellen Lilly Meadows. Virgie was the oldest living member of the Church of God Family Worship Center in Beckley, where she was a past president of the Willing Workers Women's Ministry, and a Sunday School teacher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Luther Everett Robertson in 1975, and Frank Alley in 1999.
