William S. Abney age 81 of Reed Hill Road, died Saturday November 24, 2007 at his home.

William was born in Rockcastle County to the late Morgan and Ida Abney. He was a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church and a retired security guard from Berea Hospital. William was also a WWII Army veteran.

He is survived by his loving wife Helen McGee; step children Carlton McGee, Elaine Taulbee, Joe McGee and James McGee; a very special nephew Mike Abney and wife Sandy and children Amanda and Hannah Clark; three sisters Evelyn Bullens, Eula Abney and Flossie Peters; two brothers Everett Abney and Cecil Abney; step grandchildren Mary Conner, Dennis Lakes, Donald Taulbee, Katilyn McGee and Hannah McGee; step great grandchildren Autumn and Jordan Conner and Hunter Lakes. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, William was also preceded in death by three brothers Hobert Abney, Elijah Abney and Robert Abney and four sisters Annie McCracken, Thelma Phillips, Ella McCracken and Myrtle Adams.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Monday at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Harding officiating. Burial will follow in the Davis Witt Cemetery in Rockcastle County. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5-9 pm at Lakes Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Gary Taulbee, Donald Taulbee, Dennis Lakes, Chester Phillips, James Peters, Charles Abney and Anthony Abney.
