Escondido---Joe P. Burkholder, last employed as a service dispatcher for San Diego Gas and Electric Co. for 20 years, died Feb. 24 at home. He was 66.
Mr. Burkholder was born in Springfield, Utah, and had lived in Escondido since 1956. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, having served in the U. S. Navy with 23 years service. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Escondido Elks Lodge, Pearl Harbor Survivors and Veterans of Foreign Wars of Escondido.
Survivors include his wife, Marie: sons Michael Burkholder of Riverside, Steven Burkholder of Carson City, Nev., and Joseph Burkholder of Indiana; sister Pauline Blazek of Idaho; half-brothers Jerry, Jack, Gordon and Ted Packard, all of Idaho; half-sisters Barbara of Anaheim and Betty of Idaho; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 845 Chestnut Ave., Escondido, with Rev. Charles Rines officiating. Private interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Elizabeth Hospice.
