Gordon worked for Fisher’s Gas Station during the first year of their marriage. In 1957, he went to work for FMC where he worked for 39 years.
He and his wife, Shirley were longtime members of the 8th ward while raising their family on Taney Lane. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on 21 November 1980. After retirement, they went on a service mission to Moapa, NV. They are currently members of the Pocatello 29th ward.
The great outdoors was where Gordon was most comfortable, and he was an avid fisherman and hunter. Their cabin in Island Park was a special get away location for their family.
His struggle with dementia lasted for more than ten years during which his wife cared for him. He passed away October 13, 2016 in Salt Lake City at a care center where he was attended to by family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; son, Kent; granddaughter, Kelsey; and great-grandson, Michael.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Kae; three sons, Larry (Faith), Dee (Brenda) and Kelly (Laura); eight grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Ashley, Corinne, Conner, Kaylee, Sheldon, and Cameron; and ten great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 11 am at the LDS 29th Ward Chapel, 1700 W. Kinghorn Rd. Pocatello, ID 83202, with a viewing for one hour prior to services.
Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83204.
