Joy J. Garrett, "Joyful", of Bemus Point, NY, was born October 29, 1935 in Flemington, WV, and was a daughter of the late George W. and Madeline Luzader Apperson.

She married George J. Garrett on December 19, 1953. He preceded her in death on September 24, 1991.

Joy started working in Jamestown-area restaurants when her family was young. She loved to cook and cooked at the Marvin House Restaurant for many years, eventually owning and helping to operate the former Hare 'n Hounds Inn in Bemus Point with her family.
Joy was a member of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church where she was active in Lourdes Ladies. She was also an avid golfer, playing in the Bemus Point Golf Club Tuesday Night Ladies League for more than 35 years, as well as Friday night couples' groups.
Joy will be remembered as a loving, caring person who loved her family, along with her dogs throughout the years. She always had a hug and a smile for all. Joy always said, "Never turn down an invitation to go." – she would always be ready. She also loved to sing and would break out in her old country songs for anyone to listen, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all.
