Moses Stevenson is historically (family history) believed to be the tenth of twelve known children of William ("Little Gabriel") Stevenson (1725-1809) and Mary McLelland (McClelland?) Stevenson (1730-1811), both born in Ireland, came to Pennsylvania with their families, married in Pennsylvania in the mid-1750's, and moved to North Carolina in c1762.

Moses first married Ann (Fanny or Annie) Ewing (1782-a1820), who married c1800 at North Carolina. Fanny was the daughter of Nathaniel Ewing (c1747-1822) and Rebecca Osborne (1747-1815). The family, along with Moses's brother James Stevenson (1768-1850) (and his family) and James' brother-in-law, Andrew McKensie and his family, along with a large party of emigrants, crossed the mountains and settled in Christian County, Kentucky in c1814. Moses and Fanny were the parents of seven known children, namely:

1. Cecilia Stevenson Dishman (???-1822)
2. William Mortimore Stevenson (1802-1831)
3. Mary Caroline Stevenson McKenzie (1804-1838)
4. Miles Ewing Stevenson (1806-1836)
5. Jane Amelia Stevenson Stevenson (1808-1893)
6. Nancy Melissa Stevenson Nichols (1811-1856)
7. Sophia Elizabeth Stevenson Lacy (1815-1863)

After Fanny died, Moses remarried to the widow, Mrs. Sarah "Sally" Watts Ewing (1782-c1869) on 01 Jun 1820 at Christian County, Kentucky. Sally was the widow of James W. Ewing (1777-1818) and the daughter of William Watts (1754-1819) and Rachel Davidson (1756-1858). Moses and Sally were thought to have had two additional children, namely:

8. Martha Stevenson (???-???)
9. Adelaide Ewing Stevenson (???-???)

Were they twins? Were they born after Moses died? Did they die young? Nothing is known of them.

Links to Moses' parents, his first known wife, four of his nine known children and all of his eleven known siblings are included below.
