Vertie Belle Elliott was born to William C. and Lula Lattimore Elliott on November 12, 1921 in Minco, Oklahoma. She died peacefully at Integris Baptist Hospital on November 9, 2007. She is a graduate of Minco High School (1939) and Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha, Oklahoma (1943). With a degree in commerce, she worked for U.S. Army's Borden General Hospital in Chickasha. She moved on to work for Universal CIT Credit Corporation in their accounting division in Oklahoma City. Then to Erwin-Wasey Advertising Agency and finally to a local accounting firm, C.C. Wilson Certified Public Accountant (CPA) the agency evolved into Gus J. Karey, CPA; then to Karey, McCloud and Day CPA. When she retired in December, 1986 she was the office manager. Vertie was a fun loving, gregarious person with interests in many things including, sports, politics, bridge, theater, and travel. Vertie was a poplular Aunt with many of her nieces and nephews. She was a long time member of Village Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, William C. Jr. (Bill), John Thomas (J.T.) and James Emmet (James); one sister, Annie Lou Basore; two sisters in law, Wave Irene Elliott and Carolyn Elliott. She is survived by three brothers, Frank Wall Elliott, Covington, LA, Charles Lattimore Elliott, Polkville, NC and Aaron C. Elliott, Vian, OK.; four sisters, Kathleen Lambert, Lawton, OK, Julia Mae Brown, OKC, OK, Mary Lea Roberts, Westville, OK and Lula Faye Anderson, Vian, OK; brothers-inlaw Denzille Lambert, Lawton, OK, W.T. Basore, Tulsa, OK, Charles W. Brown, OKC, OK, Troy Roberts, Westville, OK, Bob Anderson, Vian, OK, sisters-in-law Edla Elliott, Polkville, NC, Eleanor Elliott, Covington, LA, Jeanie Elliott Buras, LA, Billie Elliott, Vain, OK.; a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. A private interment will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Minco, OK.
