Porter Highland was born in 1925 to Saul Highland and Loney Haynes Highland of Iuka. The grandson of Dr. William Highland and Henrietta Hampton-Highland and Amy Haynes. He served as a sergeant in World War II and was stationed in southern France, he recieved many medals including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was later married to Lillie Highland and had Kenneth Highland and Phyllis Highland, he is preceeded in death by his son and granddaughter Angela both buried in Memphis. He was an employee of Kimberly-Clark. Later he was married to Bea Edmondson-Highland in the early 1980's. He moved to New Caney at this time and resided there until his death in July 2006. His father died in Iuka in 1960 and his mother died in June 1994 also in Iuka. He was preceeded in death by his brother's Jourdan, James Oney and William Albert Highland all buried at Patrick Cem in Iuka, Ms. He was also survived by eight sister's. He loved to laugh and make trips home to Mississippi. He was very close to his children by marriage Donna and Micheal, their children and grandchildren. He supported the Veterans and those seeking higher education. He is greatly missed by all.

I saw a bluebird today on a window sill, he was sad and very still. His heart was sad and full of pain knowing you can not come back again. rwh
