Born to Dr. William Highland and Henrietta Hampton-Highland. Married Loney Haynes his only wife, was a farmer and a musician. Died in 1960-(in church) of a heart-attack after singing "I saw the Light". Father to James Oney, Porter and William Albert and Infant Jourdan Highland. Lorene Rhodes, Ann Wiley, Emer White, Christine Cooper, Mary Etta, Pearl Barrett, Betty Quillen, Ruby Walker-Stanford-Brown. Had a half brother John Hampton, a sister named Maude Kidd Frazier. and Jim Highland.
Owned 29 acres in the city of Iuka, where the old house is still standing today and most of the industrial park is located. The house is still owned by a daughter. There are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
