James E. Allison, 67, WWII Veteran
Chester -- James E. Allison, 67, of Carolina Avenue died Friday, Dec. 28, 1990, at 2:45 a.m. at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness. He was born Jan. 29, 1923, in Chester, the son of the late Otis Allison and Stella Leanard Allison. Mr. Allison retired in 1982 as a truck driver. A member of Teamsters Local 428, he was a mechanic at the former Temple Motors in Chester. He was also a member of the Chester Free Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater as an ambulance driver. Mr. Allison was a member of American Legion Post 121 in Chester. Survivors include his wife, Betty J. Reese Allison, whom he married in April 1947; two sons, Larry Allison of New Cumberland and Randy Allison of Manassas, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Linda Riddle of Rockville, Md; two sisters, Mrs. Maxine McCoy of Aliquippa, Pa., and Mrs. Pearl Dorothy Gibbs of Chester; one brother Robert L. Allison of Columbus, Ohio; and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Arner Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Dunmire of the Chester First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
