Johnnie "Madge" Howard, 90, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2008, in a local health care facility.

She was the daughter of the late Sephia Edmonds McFarland and John McFarland. She was preceded in death by her husbands: E. B. "Bink" Parks and Jack Howard; daughter, Peggy Meagher; sons-in-law: Bill Garner and C. L. Rice; sisters: Alma McGill and Ruth Graham; and her brothers: Herbert McFarland and Boyd McFarland.

She was employed with the Singer Sewing Machine Co. in Cleveland and Chattanooga with more than 30 years of service.

She retired from the Parks Belk Co. with more than 20 years of service.

She enjoyed collecting Rooster figurines. She also enjoyed sewing, her flower garden and cooking for her family.

She was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Garner of Cleveland; grandchildren: Pam Ingram, Debbie Hicks and Billy Garner and his wife, Paula; great-grandchildren: Heather Hammond, Aaron Hicks and his wife, Sarah, Amanda Hicks, Andy Hicks, Michael Scoggins and Ashley Scoggins; great-great-grandchildren: Hannah Hammond, Jordan Hammond, Landon Hicks, Lane Hicks, Ethan Scoggins and Alanna Scoggins; sisters: Florence Cox and Reva Walker, both of Clinton and Reba Owens and her husband, Charles, of Nashville; brothers: Elmer McFarland of Oklahoma City, Okla., Cecil McFarland and his wife, Ann Marie, of Nashville and Ralph McFarland and his wife, Sue, of Clinton; special friend, Gene Weaver; and several nieces and nephews.

The Remembrance of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at the North Ocoee Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. Jim Caywood officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Dennis Crumley, Dwayne Roach, Brian Hicks, Roger Cissom, Rob Debelak and Mark Burger serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
