It was believed that Mr. Woodruff may have suffered a heart attack as he was not seriously injured in the fall, police said. Coroner W.L. Dragoo will conduct an inquest.
Mr. Woodruff served at one time as a park policeman.
He is survived by his wife, Etta; a step-daughter, Mrs. Margaret Darling, of Chicago; three brothers, Sherman and John Woodruff, both of Rochester; and Andrew Woodruff, of Carlinville; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Drendel and Mrs. James Campbell, both of Springfield; a half-brother, Archie Saultz, of Havana; a half-sister, Mrs. Bessie Kenney, of Havana; and one granddaughter.
Remains were taken to Ellinger & Kunz funeral home where services were conducted.
Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery.
