A.J. Beard married Miss Eunice Vinita Hamm on 14 October 1886. The couple came to Texas and settled in Johnson County in 1900, then moved to Young County in 1906. His wife preceded him in death.


A.J. Beard, longtime resident of Loving, passed away Tuesday at his home. Services were held in the Loving Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Wilma Roberts. Mr. Beard was active in the Methodist Church for many years and will be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Beard was a retired Postmaster of Loving, Texas Post Office. Mr. Beard served as Postmaster of Loving from 1910 to 1940. He became a member of the Methodist Church in 1906. He became a Mason in 1888. Survived by four sons - Frank, Joe, Grady, Glenn; three daughters - Mrs. W.W. Prather, Mrs. Roy Wheat, Mrs. Charles Rhea; one sister - Minerva Henderson; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
