Herbert J. Herman, 88, Hays, died Friday, March, 2, 2007, at Hays Good Samaritan Center. He was born Oct. 16, 1918, in McCracken to Anton and Agnes (Kreutzer) Herrman.

He married Verna Hageman on June 16, 1948, in Osborne. She preceded him in death July 5, 1992.

He was a graduate of La Crosse High School and attended Fort Hays State University. He was a farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Hays, and Liebenthal Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include two brothers, Maynard Herrman and wife, Luella, Hays, and Willard Herrman and wife, Alene, Liberal; two sisters, Florina Roth, Liberal; and Frances Ridler and husband, Max, Hays.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Olinda Igo, a infant brother, Jerome, and a infant sister, Mary.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, with graveside military honors by Hays Veteran of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, both at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine. A parish vigil service will be at 7 p.m., Monday, followed by a Liebenthal Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church or Masses in care of the funeral home.
