Engagement of Miss Jean Talley to Lt. Rutledge Announced

Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Talley of Campti announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Jean, to Lieut. Collie C. Rutledge, marine air corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Rutledge, Sr., of this city.

The nuptials will be solemnized at 8 o'clock the evening of Saturday, July 28, at the First Baptist church with Dr. M. E. Dodd officiating.

Miss Talley has chosen as her attendants her sister, Mrs. Robert J. Willhoff as matron of honor and Miss Peggy Brent as bridesmaid. Little Miss La Juan McKinnon, niece of the bride, will serve as flower girl.

The bridegroom will be attended by his brother as best man and Lieut. H. J. Steele, marine air corps, as usher.

An open house will be held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Prothro, 216 Patton street, Friday night, July 27, following the rehearsal for the wedding. Friends and relatives are asked to accept this as a medium of invitation.

Rutledge, Dorothy Jean Age 82, of Garland, TX passed away on July 21, 2009. She was born July 31, 1926 in Campti, LA to William Van Tally [sic. Talley] and Susie Jane Huckabay [sic. Susan Jennie Huckaby]. Dorothy was a charter member of St. David's Episcopal Church, was known as "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII and once worked as an Executive Secretary for Liquid Paper. She is survived by her son, William "Rick" Rutledge of Edmond, OK; daughter, Collene Beasley of Garland, TX; grandchildren, Rick Oakes Rutledge, Lauren Ashley Rutledge, Kristina Ann Beasley and sister, Ruth Wilhoff of Coldwater, OH. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Collie Clarence Rutledge Jr., parents, 2 brothers, and 6 sisters. Visitation is Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Directors. Funeral Service will be Monday, July 27, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at St. David's Episcopal Church, 2022 Saturn Road, Garland, TX 75041. Entombment following at Restland Memorial Park, Whispering Waters Mausoleum, 9220 Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
