Ona, Florida - Thelma Maggard, age 99 years 361 days of Ona, Florida passed away on February 7, 2021 at her home in Ona, Florida, surrounded by family.

Thelma was born in Cumberland, KY on February 11, 1921, to the union of John A. Mullins, Sr., and Rose Belle Wells who both preceded her in death.

Thelma was married to Clay Burton Maggard who preceded her in death in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jerry Maggard, her sisters; Juanita Mullins, and Vivian Speckner, both from Bradenton, FL and brother, John A. Mullins, Jr., Richmond, IN.

Thelma is survived by four daughters; Judy Brann, Bradenton, Florida; Frieda (Kelly) York, Riceville, TN; Delores (Raymond) Chappell, Michigan City, IN; Teresa (Mike) Alday, Ona, FL.
She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a brother, David (Flossie) Mullins, Union City, IN and sister, Fern Mullins, Oneco, Florida, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Thelma was a homemaker and also worked as a retail clerk, and waitress, and had co-owned a service station with her husband in Bradenton, FL.

She enjoyed gardening and always raised a large garden and preserved the produce. When living in Indiana she had a large portion of her garden dedicated to raising Gladiola. In later years she became interested in other flowers, especially Orchids.

Thelma, was loved and known as Grammie by many family and friends. She loved to fix food to serve to family and friends at her parties. She was a master at making Whiskey Sours and Champagne Punch. She was known and loved as a women who spoke her mind, whether you wanted to hear it or not. There are many tales of tears and laughter shared by her family over her antics. "Roadrunner" loved to travel and see new places and always learn new things. She lived life with zest to the fullest right to the end.
Thelma fought hard to make it to her 100th Birthday and was still talking and planning her party till the end. Please join her last party and send off on Sunday.

There will be a Celebration of Life and Visitation for Thelma (Grannie) Maggard on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 1-4PM at 7304 Redge Rainey Road, Ona, Florida 33865
Graveside Service at Mansion Memorial on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 1PM.
