Gala C. Densmore, age 72, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She was born Thursday, May 9, 1946 in Ripton, Vermont to Rex Alverton Barrows and Vera Esther (Manning) Hemond. She liked working and spending time with the children at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church where she attended and was a person who would take a stand for all animals. In her spare time she stayed busy with different types of craft projects and loved to play bingo.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Rex Barrows, Sr (1904 - 1959) and Vera Hemond (1908 - 1995); step father Ernest Hemond (1912 - 1977); and 13 siblings: Pauline Sylvia Barrows (1925 - 1926), Marjorie Benedict (1926 - 2015), Alverton "Buzzy" Barrows (1928 - 1984), Doris Jutras (1929 - 1994), Rex Barrows, Jr (1930 - 1988), Joy Tatro (1932 - 2017), Clifford "Skip" Barrows, Sr (1933 - 2017), Sandra Donohugh (1934 - 2004), Shirley Chapman (1936 - 2013), Gilbert "Jack" Barrows (1937 - 1987), Judy Ladue (1939 - 2008), Winona LaFountain (1942 - 2009), and William Barrows, Sr (1947 - 2018); Ex-husband Angenor Paquin (1927 - 2000); second and third ex- husband and father of her children TSgt Richard Densmore, USAF Retired (1946 - 2000), and fourth ex-husband Wintferd Waters (1941 - 2015).
Gala is survived by her children: Scott Densmore, Holly Haire and husband Kevin, and Gail Kimble and fiancée Michael Porter; grandchildren: Wayne, CJ, and Kevin Richard; step-grandchildren: Lily and Leo Kimble; step-daughters: Liz Synder and husband Ray, Mary Waters, and Sue Waters; son-in-law Aussie Kimble; long-time friends: Sherry Schwoch, Roy Gallion, Jr, Janice Mercer, and Nellie Waggoner; brothers: Wayne Barrows and wife Diane, and Raymond Barrows, Sr.; and a gargantuan number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to: the Chautauqua Nursing Home for the love and care given to Gala, Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and Pastor Mahlon LeCroix for their help with services, family and friends, and long-time friend Nellie Waggoner.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2018 beginning at 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in DeFuniak Springs, Florida with Pastor Mahlon LeCroix officiating. Flowers are being accepted or in lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, given to the church to forward to the funeral home.
