Seagrove - Joseph Franklin Bean, age 87, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Woodland Hill Center in Asheboro.

Mr. Bean was born in Moore County on January 27, 1933 to John Ollie and Ava Cagle Bean.

He was a veteran of the US Army, a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, and was a retired textile employee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jaxie McNeill and brothers, Edward, Boyd, Harold, Melvin, Willie, and Ray Bean.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Allred Bean of the home; daughters, Donna G. Bean of Garner, and Karen B. Lewis (Daniel) of Matthews; son, Gary Bean (Debra) of Asheboro; brother, Kelly Bean (Shelby) of Seagrove; grandchildren, Melissa, Bailey, Jacob, Destiny, Caleb, and Gage; and great-grandchild, Mason.

Mr. Bean's body will lie in repose from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, at Phillips Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Ron Chaney officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 7912 Union Grove Church Road, Seagrove, NC 27341.
