Seagrove - Ollie Edward Bean, 93, formerly of Tennessee, died Monday, January 21, 2013, at Randolph Hospice House.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Ron Chaney officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 24, 2013, in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville, Tennessee.

Edward was born in Montgomery County to John Ollie and Ava Cagle Bean.

He operated his own A/C business in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was a service/repairman to residential and business customers. After retiring, Avalea and he enjoyed living in the rural area of Adams, Tennessee.

He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy where he served on the USS Comfort Hospital Ship.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Avalea Pendleton Bean; brothers, Boyd Bean, Harold Bean, Melvin Bean, and infant brother, Willie.

He survived by his daughter, Gla'Dienne C'Belle Hartzler (John), of Austin, Texas; step-son, Barry Perry (Rebecca) of Gallatin, Tennessee; sister, Jaxie B. McNeill, of Seagrove; brothers, Ray Bean (Vivian), Franklin Bean (Catherine) , Kelly Bean (Shelby), all of Seagrove; grandchildren, Troy Hofmann (Karen) of California, Traci Strobel (Chris) of Illinois, Marcie Burgad (Jay) of North Dakota, Starr Roberts (Kevin) of Texas; step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Ashley, Katrina, Dottie, Nikki; 15 great-grandchildren; 9 step-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Nellie Bean, Georgia Bean.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home, 216 South Main Street, Star, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Randolph Hospice, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
