RACCOON, Ky. — Jesse A. Coleman, 81, of Raccoon, died Monday, May 18, 1998, at his residence.
Born Jan. 17, 1917, in Pike County, he was a son of the late Riley B. and Lucy Pearl Coleman.
He was also preceded in death by: wife, Elzie Coleman; son, Jonah Ray Coleman; brothers, Jonathan, Luther, Allen, Alvin, Allison, Irvin Coleman and an infant brother; and sister, Sarah Coleman.
He was a retired coal miner, a World War II Veteran and of the Old Regular Baptist faith.
Survivors: sons, Riley B. Coleman, Las Vegas, Nev., and Esther Coleman, Raccoon; daughters, Lucy Pearl Davenport, Chattanooga, Tenn., Ruth Haney, Trenton, Ga., Emma Sue Williams and Cora Ellen Coleman, both of Pikeville, and Joyce Marie Buckles, Rising Fawn, Ga.; sisters, Sylvia Thacker, Shelbiana, Frona Coleman, Nashville, Tenn., and Flossie Coleman, Raccoon; and 22 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 1998, Frozen Creek Old Regular Baptist Church, Frozen Creek, with Wendell and John Paul Hampton, Herman West, Lee Lane, John and Thomas Thacker and others.
Burial: Coleman Cemetery, Raccoon.
Visitation: at the church. Service at 7 p.m.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Justice Funeral Services, Morris Chapel, Justiceville.
