His friendship with Anne Boleyn's father secured him the office of Chief Justice of England under King Henry VIII. Chief Justice Baldwin died of natural causes a year before his benefactress' execution.
Susannah married William Wharton Hampton in 1847. They had ten children: Susannah about 1848, Hannah Maria in 1849, Lucy E. about 1851, Stewart C. in 1854, Joseph Elwood in 1856, Mary E. about 1858, Charles B. in 1862, Anna Rebecca in 1863, William Judson in 1866 and Allice L. 'Lulu' in 1868.
She was of the Methodist faith. She was a farmer's wife in Franklin Twp. and later in Kingwood Twp.
Susannah had 14 grandchildren and 158 additional descendants as of late 2007.
