A native of Etna Furnace, Lawrence Co., Mrs Brunner was born Apr 17 , 1852, a daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Widdig. She came to Portsmouth when a child and had resided here most of her life. She was married to Mr. Brunner Aug 22, 1872, and he preceded her in death in 1932.
Mrs Brunner had been a member of First Evangelical Church since 1866 & also was a member of the Ladies Aid Society & of the Women's Union. She had been active in church work as long as her health permitted.
Surviving, beside her daughter, Mrs Schirrmann, are these other children: Mrs Josephine Herrmann, 727 Fifth St. (Mrs. George Herrmann); Mrs A. E. Pettit of Indianapolis, Ind. and Gus Brunner, 724 Fifth St. Three sons, Edward, Fred and Gustav Brunner, preceded her in death. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Emma Bice of Lucasville, OH and 4 brothers, Charles, Henry and Adam Widdig of Portsmouth, OH & George Widdig of Elyria, OH; 17 grandchildren & 33 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Daehler's funeral home, with Rev. F. H. Klemme, pastor of First Evangelical church officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Portsmouth, OH.
The body will be taken Wednesday to the Schirrmann residence, 720 Fifth Street, where it will remain until noon Friday.
