Clara C. Gronewold, 97, formerly of Hoyt Street, died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 1995 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Lacon.

Born Dec. 28, 1897, in La Rose to Claus and Etta Beander Grafelman, she married Alvin Gronewold on Nov. 18, 1919, in Washington. He died May 4, 1937. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, seven sisters, and one daughter.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne of Dunlap and Kenneth of Chillicothe, one foster son, Walter Carlson of Novelty, Mo., two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Carroll of Chillicothe and Mrs. Robert (Carol) Caldwell of Edelstein, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one foster granddaughter, and one sister, Lucille Jackson of Wyoming, IL.

She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Chillicothe, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Weber Funeral Home in Chillicothe is in charge of arrangements.
