MRS. C. FITCH SR. DIES EARLY TODAY
Mrs. Charles Fitch Sr., 322 North Rowe street, resident of Ludington and Mason county for many years, passed away early this morning in Paulina Stearns hospital at the end of an illness of several years' duration. She had been confined to her bed during the past three years.
Mrs. Fitch, nee Ethel Vivian Rose, was born on Jan. 26, 1881, at Evart. At the age of 15 years, she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Rose, to Summit. Her early education was received in Evart schools and she later attended French school at Summit.
Mrs. Fitch was affiliated with First Methodist church of Ludington and was active in the Lake Shore Arbor of Gleaners, the Pere Marquette Grange and the Ladies' auxiliary of Rural Carriers' organization.
Married on Oct. 29, 1902, to Charles Fitch, she is survived by her husband, her son, Charles Jr., and eight daughters, Mrs. Gladys Herrick, Mrs. Alice Chinnery, Mrs. Elsie Henry, Mrs. Hazel McDonald, Mrs. Arlene Dixon, all living locally, and Misses Helen, Bernice and Ethel Vivian Fitch, at home. She is preceded in death by one child, who died in infancy, and by a sister, Mrs. Fred Dean of Detroit, who passed away in 1932. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Neils Hansen, of Victory, and five nephews and a niece.
The body will be returned to the home for a prayer service at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, followed at 3 o'clock by a service at First Methodist church.
Arrangements are being made by Dorrell funeral home.
