Rita Marie Holderness, 72, of DeKalb, Illinois died Saturday April 7, 2001 at Pine Acres Care Center. She was born March 22, 1929 in Chicago the daughter of Joseph Sidney Bristow and Frances (Perry) Bristow. She married George D. Holderness on October 16, 1954 in DeKalb. She was a graduate of Swedish American Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Larry) Wood of Sycamore; two sons, David (Terry) Holderness of DeKalb, Bill Holderness of DeKalb; a brother, George Bristow of Oceanside, California; six grandchildren, Christopher and Kristin Wood, Tiffany, Angela, Jessica, and Whitney Holderness; several nieces and nephews; and cousin, Bruce (Carol) Bryant of Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She was a member of the Mayfield Congregational Church UCC and a former member of the DeKalb County Home Auxiliary.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14th in the church with The Reverend Nancy Foellmer, officiating. There is no visitation. Interment will be in Malta Cemetery.
