Sid Bristow Dies Suddenly This Morning
This community was today shocked by the news of the sudden and untimely death of Sidney Bristow of Chicago, age 37, and a resident of this city until his departure several years ago following graduation from the State Teachers College. The young man had been ill since the Christmas holidays with the flu and pneumonia in Chicago, nut was thought to be recovering.
His improvement was such that yesterday arrangements were made to bring him to DeKalb today to recuperate at the home of his mother, Mrs. George Bristow of South Seventh street and arrangements were made for the DeKalb ambulance to go to Chicago at 8:00 o’clock this morning to bring the young man home. Death occurred this morning at 4:00 o’clock at the St. Anne hospital in Chicago.
Joseph Sidney Bristow was born in DeKalb on June 13, 1899, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bristow. His father, for many years DeKalb township tax assessor, died last July. The young man was educated in the schools of this city and was a graduate of both the DeKalb high school and the State Teachers College, being a member of the class of 1921 at the latter institution.
Upon graduation he taught for one year in Richmond, Ind., and since then had been teaching in Chicago, having been a member of the faculty of the Jungman Pre-Vocational school of Chicago as an instructor in manual arts at the time he was taken ill.
He was married on June 19, 1927 to Miss Frances Perry of Moline. Mrs. Bristow is ill with the flu at the present time and has not yet been informed of her husband’s death.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife; two children, Rita 8, and George, 5; his mother, Mrs. George Bristow of South Seventh street, and two sisters, Mrs. John Bryant and Mrs. Carl Olson, both of this city.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from the Wirtz funeral home, interment to be in the family lot in Oakwood cemetery.
