OBITUARY- Calhoun City Monitor Herald, Dec. 6, 1951

Mrs. Leona Vanlandingham, Age 76, Passes Away at Fruitland Park, Nov. 29th
Mrs. Leona Vanlandingham, age 76, native of this county and former resident of this city, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jere Hess, at Fruitland Park, MS on Thursday, Nov. 29. The body was returned to this county and funeral services were held from the Concord Baptist Church on Friday afternoon of last week, conducted by Rev. A. H. Childress, assisted by L. E. Roane, followed by interment in the Concord Cemetery. Pryor Funeral Home directed the rites and pallbearers were: John Edwards, Ethan Edwards, Lee Edwards, Harold Edwards, Clyde Stillman and Claude Stillman.
Mrs. Vanlandingham was before her marriage, Miss Leona Stillman. She was reared in the Rocky Branch community. She was the widow of the late J. T. Vanlandingham and both she and her husband were well known in this county. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calhoun City and also a member of the Calhoun City Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She was a woman of fine character and was actice in all progressive and civic undertakings.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jere Hess, Fruitland Park, MS, where she had made her home for several years; by two sons, Carl Vanlandingham, Fruitland Park and Emmett Vanlandingham, Memphis; by a brother, W. M. Stillman of Bruce; by two sisters, Mrs. L. J. Edwards of Bruce and Mrs. M. L. Alexander, Derma. Four grandchildren also survice her.
