His mother, Alice Morton Rutherfurd was the daughter of Levi P. Morton (1824-1920) and Anna Livingston Street Morton (1846-1918). Levi P. Morton was the U.S. Vice President under U.S. President Benjamin Harrison from 1889-1893 and Governor of New York from 1895-1897.
