Etoile Elaine Steglich, 60, of Bartlett, Texas died Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Family Visitation will be held Friday, May 2 from 6 to 8 pm at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. Celebration of Life Services will be 4:30 pm, Saturday, May 3, 2003 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel with Garland Kneten officiating. Burial to follow at the Beard Cemetery in Granger, Texas.
Etoile Elaine Steglich was born September 30, 1942 to Louie E. and Edna Etoile (Beard) Steglich in Temple, Texas. She graduated from Bartlett High School in May of 1961. She also graduated from Texas Woman's University on May 30, 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Etoile began her teaching career at Avenue D Elementary School in Killeen, Texas. While there she taught the fifth grade (1965-70) and fourth grade (1970-71) and she completed her Master of Education degree, which she received from Texas Woman's University in 1970. She later received her counselor license and served for many years as a special education counselor at the high school level. Etoile later completed the coursework necessary for her management certificate and became a special education coordinator from the Killeen Independent School District. After thirty-seven years of service she retired from teaching in May of 2002. Etoile was also a member of the Association of Texas Professional Educators, Phi Delta
Etoile spent many years helping children with special needs. She was, however, equally devoted to her family. Her skills as an educator made a lasting impact on her family where she was frequently called upon to help her many cousins as well as her nieces and nephews. She was never happier than when she could be preparing a graduation party or a wedding party or when she could be shopping for presents for her friends and family. She also enjoyed gardening and travel.
Etoile is preceded in death by her parents, Louie E. and Edna Etoile Beard Steglich.
Survivors include her brother, Robert L. Steglich and wife, Joyce M. of Bartlett; nieces and nephews, Robert W. Steglich and wife, Evelyn of Holland, Melanie M. Roberts and husband, Ray of Jackson, MI., Rhonda K. Snyder and husband, Andy of Holland, and Kevin T. Steglich and wife, Windy of Bartlett; great-nieces and nephews, Erin and Clara Steglich of Holland, Brandon and Sarena Roberts of Jackson, MI., Rachel, Michelle, Logan, and Katherine Snyder of Holland, Bryson and Hope Steglich of
Bartlett; aunt, Myrtle B. Zett and husband, Frank of Austin; uncle, Cecil Tidwell of Austin; aunt, Leola Steglich of Stafford; and numerous cousins.
