From obituary: Mr. Raymond J. Smith, 59 years, entered into rest early Monday morning at Hackley Hospital. He was a native of Muskegon, born July 20, 1918. on July 1 1972, in Muskegon, he was married to the former Jeanetta R. Wolf Vriesman, who survives him. Mr. Smith been employed by the Muskegon Chronicle as a Professional Photographer for many years. Durning WWII, he served as Corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps. His survivors, besides his wife, include his father John A. Smith of Muskegon,2 daughters, Mrs. Carol Ann Briggs and Miss JoAnn Smith, both of Muskegon, 3 sons Dixon Smith of Muskegon, and Robert Smith of Ft. Devins, MA and David Smith of Ft. Ord CA. both serving in the U.S. Army, a brother Roy Smith of Muskegon, and a granddaugher, Christina Briggs of Muskegon. The funeral rites for Mr. Smith will be Thursday morning, in the Garden Chapel of The Achterhoff Mortuary, with the Rev. Mr. George W. Reith, Pastor, Orchard View Congregational Church, officiating. A dignified cremation at Graceland will follow.
