Thomas Benton Hooker and Martha Ann Auten Hooker
Grandparents:
John Nathan Hooker and Rebecca Guise Hooker
John Auten and Nancy (Unknown) Hooker
James was from Scottish and Irish decent. He started out as a farmer. When the Pickwick Dam was being built, my cousin Ann and her husband found paperwork that he hired his wagon and 2 mules out for .75 cent an hour to help build the Dam.
James was also a streetcar conductor in Memphis, TN, and worked on the railroad. After he and Mary Callie's divorced, he was working for the Southern Pacific Railroad where he met Myrtle Lillian Johnson. Myrtle was traveling from Memphis TN to Alabama on the train, and James was working that day. That was a lucky day for a lot of us.. :-)
My Grandfather was a Mason and belonged to a Masonic Lodge in Memphis, Tn, for many, many years before he died.
