Mary Callie Dowdy was the 8th child of 13th born to Robert and Mary.

Married: James Edward Hooker (Divorced)
Married: John William West

Mary Callie and James Edward were married sometime around 1901 - 1903. After about 20 years of marriage, they got a divorced sometime around 1920 or 1921. She then married John West. Mary and John West are buried side by side.

She was my Grandfather Hooker's first wife. I have always heard nice things about Mary Callie. She was very sweet, a wonderful seamstress, cook and a good Christian woman.

Mary Callie must have had a great sense of humor too. She once told her granddaughter, Mary Hooker Crosby, when offered a ride in a car. "If you can drive it, I can ride it."

Mary Callie and James Edward's children:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
son: Cleo Benton Hooker
daughter: Rosa lee Hooker
son: Jewel Hooker
son: Thomas Edward Hooker
Mary Callie's memorial was made out of love for my Aunt and Uncles whom I loved very much..
This woman must have been a wonderful mother because her children (my aunt and uncles) were very decent, loving, funny, caring people.
If you have a moment, please leave a note and flower for Mary Callie. Thanking you from the bottom of my heart.
