Obituary

George Preston Ashley 87, of Kellyville, Oklahoma passed from this life September 28, 2020 surrounded by his family. Preston was born January 23, 1933 in Newport, Oklahoma in a log cabin. He only had a 5th grade education due to helping his dad work the farm to make ends meet.

He was employed at many jobs throughout his life. He worked oil rigs, ranching, welder, heavy equipment operator, concrete plant maintenance/mechanic, truck driver, and others. He worked until the age of 85 after many retirements. Preston met and married his first love Vivian Taylor. They celebrated 68 years of marriage on March 5, 2020. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Bristow, Oklahoma on Slick Road. In his spare time he loved fishing, hunting, riding horses, and tinkering around his many projects that were never completed. Oh and let’s not forget countless jokes and storytelling. His friends would say sometimes a 10 to 15 minute job would take 2 to 3 hours listening to stories while working. Preston touched many lives of those who crossed his path. Teaching them countless ways of solving a problem. He was known by many to be the smartest man they ever knew. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, if it was broke they called him.

He is survived by his wife Vivian Ashley of Kellyville, Oklahoma; Four Children: Terry Ashley and wife Alice of Roosevelt, Oklahoma, Sherry Hopkins and husband Dean of Bristow, Oklahoma. Glenn Ashley of Kellyville, Oklahoma. Dale Ashley and wife Toni of Schultzer, Oklahoma. 15 Grand Children, 34 Great Grandchildren, 11 Great Great Grandchildren. One brother Roy Ashley.

He was preceded in death by Parents James Preston and Mildred Ashley;
Brothers - Tip Ashley and Gary Don Ashley;
Sisters - Joyce Lobdell, Loice Ashley, and Judy Matthews, and
Grandson - Rodney Matney
