Funeral Services for Gerry Don Ashley are scheduled for Friday at 2:00 in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Newport Cemetery. The family will host a visitation Thursday evening from 6 to 7 at the funeral home. Gerry Don was born August 22, 1937 in Newport, OK to James and Mildred (Pruitt) Ashley. He passed this life on March 1, 2016 at his residence in Ardmore. He and Diane Huff were married Dec. 3, 1973 at Newport. Gerry Don worked many different jobs in the oilfield over the years but spent the last twenty years of his working life as a truck driver. He retired from Punneo's Service as a truck driver only when his poor health forced him to give up driving. He also served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife Diane of the home, Daughter, Penni Wilson; brothers, Preston Ashley and his wife Vivanne, Roy Ashley; Sister, Judy Mathews and her husband Jerry; Grandsons, Cash Marr, Jake Marr and wife Megan, Austin Marr, Lance Mathis; Granddaughter, Paige Lewis and her husband Casey, Tawsha Mathis and her husband Joey. He is also survived by his faithful dog Shorty and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and James Ashley; brother, Tip Ashley and his wife Deloris; Sister in law Syble Ashley, sister, Joyce Lobdell and two daughters, Shelby Marr and Christy Mathis.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Larry Ashley, Donnie Callaway, Jake Marr, Dale Ashley, Pattrick Robbins, Lance Mathis and Jimmy Ashley.
