Pansy "Pan" Boyd was born on Dec. 9, 1920, in Leadville, to Margaret Violet and Benjamin Nicholas Lynch. Pan grew up in Leadville, and then moved to Denver, where she worked for the Rationing Board and met her husband of 61 years, Dorian "Bud" Boyd of the U.S. Navy. Pan and Bud were married in 1949. Bud was a proud survivor of the bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Pan and Bud made the trip back to Hawaii to commemorate the anniversary on several occasions. Hawaii, Seal Beach and San Diego were proud to claim the Boyds as residents. Longtime canine companions of Pan and Bud were Juno and Noni, whom the nieces and nephews referred to as "cousins." The couple enjoyed a mountain getaway, "Snug Harbor," in Yellow Pine, Idaho. Bud would make the trip out each year right after Easter, Pan would join him in June and they would treasure their time together until Labor Day. This second home has also become a haven for the extended family who, through Bud and Pan's generosity, were able to build a second cabin next door.
Pan was preceded in death by her husband Bud, her parents Margaret and Benjamin; her sister Mabel; her brothers George, Donald, Ben and Larry Lynch; her nephew Robert Lynch, a casualty of the Vietnam War; her niece Trish Hottell, and great-nephew Danny Hottell.
She is survived by her sisters, Bonita Ledford and Lenore Lynch; sister-in-law Jesse Rae Lynch of San Diego; nephews Ron Ledford of Mancos, Casey Lynch of Durango, Ben Lynch of Pagosa Springs, Jack Lynch of Denver, Dennis and Darrell Ledford of San Diego, Dennis Wiley of Idaho, and Bud Hottell of Lakeside, Calif.; nieces Maureen Lynch of Durango, Terri Fitzpatrick of San Diego, Bonnie Pogue of Santee, Calif., Dana Samalin of Palm Springs, Calif. and Kelly Doherty of Oregon. Pan also leaves behind numerous great-nieces and -nephews, and a slew of great-great-nieces and -nephews. All will miss her greatly.
Cremation has taken place and Pan was inurned in San Diego.
