LEDFORD, BONITA MARIE Sept. 27, 1922 to April 14, 2012 Born Bonita Marie Lynch in Leadville, Colorado. Bonita followed the love of her life, a young marine named Leland Ledford to San Diego and married him in 1943. They were maried for 49 years and had 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, most of whom still live in the San Diego area. Bonita had a 20 year career with the San Diego Padres. She sold hot dogs and popcorn at Lane Field and worked her way up to Office Manager for Eddie Leishman at West Gate Park. "Bonnie from the office" made it to the major leagues as Buzzie Bavasi's secretary in the early years of Jack Murphy Stadium. A celebration of her life will be held at Mapleview Baptist Church in Lakeside on April 20th at 10:00 a.m. She is buried at El Camino Memorial Park, next to her Leland who died in June of 1990. Bonita was the matriarch of the Ledford Clan and will be DEARLY MISSED.
